Getting to the Island

Getting to the Isle of Wight couldn’t be easier, with regular ferry services running from Portsmouth, Southampton and Lymington.

By Car

If you’re driving to the Isle of Wight by car, then you will need travel to one of the three ferry ports, either Southampton, Portsmouth or Lymington in the New Forest. You are then just a short journey across the water from the Island. Crossing the Solent is all part of the experience of travelling to the Isle of Wight. Fast passenger services from Portsmouth and Southampton can take less than 20 minutes, whilst car ferries can complete the journey in just 40 minutes. By Train

Don't feel like driving, make your journey a breeze and get the train with direct through-tickets including ferry travel. South West Trains run services across the south of England and from central London into all the main departure points to the Isle of Wight – Southampton, Portsmouth and Lymington. You can access Wightlink services to the Isle of Wight from both Lymington and Portsmouth and Red Funnel services to the isle of wight from Southampton.
